Conversational Chinese
YAYA Mandarin provides conversational Chinese program to students from Singapore and from abroad. We focus on improving students’ ability to communicate in Chinese in an interactive, communicative and effective way of learning.
We will create an enjoyable and learning- focused environment to expand what the students have learned, through active teacher – student communication. Students′ language skills are enhanced through practice with the teacher and classmates in simulated situations, such as interesting conversational role play, games etc. By practicing with maximum opportunity to speak Chinese, students′ ability to communicate in Chinese greatly improves.
Course Highlight:
- Accredited Chinese course syllabus produced by Hanban in China and aligned with international HSK test standard;
- Our teachers are all Chinese native speakers and bilingual.
- The size of our Mandarin group class is about 2-3 students, which means greater attention can be given to every student and questions in class can be solved promptly.
- All classes are recorded and available for review before and after class.
Course Structure:
- Reviewing the vocabulary and the sentences of the previous lesson;
- Learning and applying the new vocabulary that will be used during the lesson;
- Playing audios of the passages in the textbook to get the main idea and improve listening skills;
- Going through the whole passage and answering questions made by teacher;
- Learning the grammar points and make sentences or doing drills to fully understand grammar rules;
- Free conversation about the general or specific topics in order to improve speaking skills;
- Summary and review of the lesson. (Homework may be given, if needed. )

After Beginner level (Level 1 & Level 2), students will achieve a Chinese proficiency of New HSK Level 2, which means they will master the basic pronunciation rules, vocabulary and grammar of Chinese as well as basic information about Chinese characters, acquire preliminary listening, speaking , reading and writing skills and be able to make simple conversations about everyday topics in Chinese.

After intermediate level 1 & 2, students will achieve a Chinese proficiency of New HSK Level 3, which means they will acquire certain listening, speaking , reading and writing skills and be able to use Chinese to fulfill the basic communication activities and tasks encountered in their life, study and work. They will be able to handle most of the communication tasks when they travel in China.

After intermediate level 3 & 4, learners’ Chinese proficiency will reach New HSK Level 4. Their listening, speaking , reading and writing skills will be further improved. Students will begin to develop the ability to generate paragraphs. Students will be able to understand basic language materials that they encounter in their daily life, work and other common social occasions, to communicate and exchange ideas with others on familiar topics Students will be able to describe briefly basic situations relevant to these topics.
